Essential Qualification

A Master's degree from a recognized University is required. The specific conditions are:

  • In Hindi with English as a compulsory/elective subject or exam medium at degree level; OR
  • In English with Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject or exam medium at degree level; OR
  • In any subject (other than Hindi/English) with Hindi medium and English as compulsory/elective subject or exam medium at degree level; OR
  • In any subject (other than Hindi/English) with English medium and Hindi as compulsory/elective subject or exam medium at degree level; OR
  • In any subject (other than Hindi/English) with Hindi and English as compulsory/elective subjects or one as medium and other as subject at degree level.

Additionally, the following is required for specific posts:

  • Junior Hindi Translator/Junior Translation Officer/Junior Translator (Post Codes A, B, C)

    • The Master's degree as listed above.
    • Recognized Diploma/Certificate in Hindi to English translation & vice versa OR two years translation experience.
  • Sub-Inspector (Hindi Translator) (Post Code E)

    • The Master's degree as listed above.
    • Recognized Diploma/Certificate in Hindi to English translation & vice versa OR two years translation experience.
    • Must meet prescribed Physical Standards.
  • Senior Hindi Translator/Senior Translator (Post Code D)

    • The Master's degree as listed above.
    • Recognized Diploma/Certificate in Hindi to English translation & vice versa OR three years translation experience.

Qualifications obtained through Open and Distance Learning are valid if approved by UGC-DEB. The crucial date for essential educational qualifications is 01/08/2025.

Selection Process

  1. Paper-I (Computer Based Exam): Objective type questions on General Hindi & General English (100 marks each). Duration is 2 hours. Negative marking of 0.25 for wrong answers. Minimum qualifying marks: UR-30%, OBC/EWS-25%, Others-20%.
  2. Paper-II (Descriptive): Translation and Essay (200 marks). Duration is 2 hours. For candidates shortlisted from Paper-I.
  3. Final Selection: Based on combined performance in Paper-I & Paper-II.
  4. Document Verification: Conducted by user departments after final result declaration.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the new SSC Official Website.
  2. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) if not already done. Old OTR is not valid.
  3. Login and find the "Combined Hindi Translators Examination, 2025" application link.
  4. Fill the form, capture live photograph, and upload scanned signature (10-20KB, 6cm x 2cm).
  5. Pay the application fee online (if applicable).
  6. Submit the application before 26/06/2025 (23:00 hours) and print a copy.
