TNTET 2025 Notification Out, Apply Online for Teacher Eligibility Test

The Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) has announced the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) 2025. This notification was released on 11/08/2025 for candidates in Tamil Nadu. This is an eligibility test for teaching positions for Paper I (Classes I to V) and Paper II (Classes VI to VIII). Eligible candidates from Tamil Nadu can apply online starting from 11/08/2025 until the last date, 08/09/2025. This test is a mandatory qualification for teacher appointments in the state.

Test Papers and Age Limit

This test is conducted for two papers. Paper I is for teachers of classes I to V and Paper II is for teachers of classes VI to VIII. The age criteria are mentioned below.

The minimum age for applicants is 18 years as of 01/07/2025. There is no upper age limit to apply for the TNTET examination.

Essential Qualification

  • For TNTET Paper I (Classes I to V)
    • Higher Secondary with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
    • Or Higher Secondary with 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).
    • Or Higher Secondary with 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
  • For TNTET Paper II (Classes VI to VIII)
    • Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
    • Or Graduation with at least 50% marks and a Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.).
    • Or Graduation with 50% marks and B.Ed. (Special Education).
    • Any candidate with a qualified B.Ed. program recognized by NCTE is eligible.

A relaxation of up to 5% in qualifying marks is allowed for reserved category candidates.

Test Pattern and Qualifying Marks

  1. The exam will be an OMR-based test.
  2. It consists of 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
  3. The total duration of the examination is 3 hours.
  4. Candidates must score the minimum qualifying marks to pass.
  5. General category needs 90 marks to qualify.
  6. Reserved categories (SC, BC, etc.) need 82 marks.
  7. ST category needs 60 marks (one-time concession for 2025).
